Bobby Previte’s first stage appearance came in 1956 at the Niagara Falls Talent Show, where, guitar in hand, and adorned in an over-sized suit, he belted out a solo rendition of Elvis Presley’s ‘Hound Dog.’
Eight years later, thinking drumming might be a good way to get girls, he fashioned a bass drum from a rusted garbage can, a kick pedal from a wire coat hanger wedged between two pieces of linoleum and a rubber ball stuck on top, tom toms from upside-down trash bins, cymbals from aluminum pie plates suspended on plungers, and a box of loose junk for a snare – then practiced for a year in his dark basement with a lone spotlight shining on him before eventually starting a band, the “Devil’s Disciples.” But when they finally got a job at the church he was fired for not having ‘real’ drums. Seeking revenge, he took a job as a paperboy, saved every penny, and a year later bought the drum kit he still uses today in concerts all over the world.
Strolling in the East Village one bright afternoon, he peered inside a limo stuck in traffic (crosstown) and suddenly found himself face to face with Jimi Hendrix. Thinking fast, he unfurled the poster of Jimi he had fortunately just acquired, then looked on in astonishment as Hendrix smiled and flashed him the peace sign.
Andrea Kleine is a writer, choreographer, and performance artist. She is a five-time MacDowell Colony fellow and a New York Foundation for the Arts fellow. Her debut novel, CALF, was described by Publishers’ Weekly as “unsettling, scary, and often brilliant” and named one of their Best Fiction Books of 2015.
Her recent performance works include MEMOIR (2010-ongoing), a piece performed remotely over video chat; RATIONALITY (2011), a verbatim re-creation of a public access philosophy TV show staged in her apartment; and SCREENING ROOM, OR, THE RETURN OF ANDREA KLEINE (AS REVEALED THROUGH A RE-ENACTMENT OF A 1977 TELEVISION PROGRAM ABOUT A ‘LONG AND BAFFLING’ FILM BY YVONNE RAINER (2014), commissioned by The Chocolate Factory Theater. Her new work, MY DINNER WITH ANDREA, will premiere at New York Live Arts in 2017.
Kleine has been described as an “enigmatic and eccentric” (The New York Times), “brainy, allusive Downtown artist” (The Village Voice), whose work is “wry, poignant” (The New York Times) and “something like genius” (ArtVoice).
Her critical writing has been published in PAJ: a journal of performance and art, Los Angeles Review of Books, and on her blog, The Dancers Will Win.
Kleine grew up in Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. She lives in New York City.
Classically trained and rigorously de-trained, possessor of a restless, semi-feral spirit, Lori Goldston is a cellist, composer, improvisor, producer, writer and teacher from Seattle. Her voice as a cellist, amplified or acoustic, is full, textured, committed and original. A relentless inquirer, she wanders recklessly across borders that separate genre, discipline, time and geography, performing in clubs, cafes, galleries, arenas, concert halls, sheds, ceremonies, barbecues, and stadiums.

Jonah Parzen-Johnson is a saxophonist living in Brooklyn, NY. He writes music for solo saxophone and analog synthesizer. Imagine the raw energy of an Appalachian Folk choir, tempered by a lofi, minimal aesthetic. His carefully assembled analog synthesizer breathes with his saxophone, building independent melodic layers to support his sound, or soaring above his extended technique driven saxophone playing. All performed live, without any looping or recorded samples. A Chicago native, Jonah’s circular breathing, multi-phonics and inclusively experimental style owe a debt to the Chicago saxophone legacy, but his devotion to a quirky almost vocal approach places him in new territory for the solo saxophone. He has meticulously constructed a world of warm memories remembered in a cold present, as he melds the evocative nature of folk music with the chilling power of experimentalism. Along with playing solo, Jonah is a co-leader of Brooklyn Afrobeat outfit, Zongo Junction.
Sarah Hennies (b. 1979, Louisville, KY) is a composer and percussionist currently residing in Ithaca, NY. Her work is primarily concerned with an immersive, psychoacoustic presentation of sound brought about by an often grueling, endurance-based performance practice that Nathan Thomas of Fluid Radio described as “a highly sophisticated and refined performance technique…that starts and ends with listening and encourages a different way of listening from its audience.” She received her M.A. in percussion from the University of California-San Diego in 2003 where she studied with renowned percussionist Steven Schick, and is currently a member of Meridian, a percussion trio with Tim Feeney and Greg Stuart. Prior to relocating to Ithaca, Hennies was based in Austin, TX, for ten years where she performed with the Austin New Music Co-op, The Weird Weeds and a variety of other projects.
In 2016 Sarah was chosen as a fellow in music/sound from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Hennies is also an interpreter of the work of other modern composers having recorded and performed music by John Cage, Alvin Lucier, Jandek, Peter Ablinger, Kunsu Shim, Jürg Frey, Ellen Fullman, Radu Malfatti, Arnold Dreyblatt and many others. Her work as both composer and performer can be heard on a wide variety of labels including Quakebasket, Senufo Editions, Consumer Waste, Astral Spirits, Accidie, and Quiet Design.
Wobbly is the moniker of Jon Leidecker (born 1970) a San Francisco–based musician/composer of experimental electronic music. He has released works on Tigerbeat6, Illegal Art, Alku, Phthalo, and others. He has been producing music since 1987 and ongoing studio and live projects involve collaborations with People Like Us, Thomas Dimuzio, Kevin Blechdom, Tim Perkis, Matmos and The Weatherman of Negativland. He is also a member of the Chopping Channel and Sagan. In 2002, Leidecker was responsible for the first montage and final cleanup of the Keep the Dog album, That House We Lived In (2003). With Negativland’s Mark Hosler and Peter Conheim along with Doug Wellman, Leidecker produced “There Is No Don”, a live tribute to the late Don Joyce and his work, on July 23, 2015. Jon continues to produce and host Don’s Over the Edge weekly radio program. In 2015 he joined Splendor Generator with Bill Thibault, Tim Perkis and Xopher Davidson (of ANTIMATTER).
